The audio installation A MILE IN MY SHOES has successfully toured all over the world and made its German debut in 2021, as part of Sommerblut. A collection of 30 shoes and accompanying stories from Cologne and other places took visitors on a walk through the city’s streets. Empathy Museum invited you to take a moment to look at the world through someone else’s eyes.

Participants – literally – walked a mile in a stranger’s shoes whilst listening to their story.

How does it feel to have been forced to flee your homeland? Or to find the love of your life aged 80? And how does a prisoner imagine their future? Since 2015, Empathy Museum created by London-based artist Clare Patey, has been exploring how empathy can not only transform our personal relationships but also help tackle global challenges such as prejudice, conflict and inequality. Listen to 16 stories underneath.
