Open Call International Workshop "Capacity Building for the Inclusion of Theatre Arts"

We Want More!
We Want More! is inviting theatre artists, with or without disabilities, from the European Union, Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia), Turkey and Ukraine, to join the international workshop Capacity Building for Inclusion of Theatre Artists, taking place from 12 to 16 September 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, at Teatro São Luiz.
This international training course aims to improve the skills and competencies of theatre artists, promote equal opportunities and access to the market, and empower theatre directors and actors across the EU and beyond to include disabled people as performers, crew members, writers, and technicians. The programme takes a comprehensive approach to inclusion, with insights from external experts.
The workshop will run over five days, with sessions with professionals from a wide range of fields related to inclusion in the performing arts, as well as join discussions and debates focused on accessibility and inclusion in the arts.
The workshop will also serve as a space to exchange ideas and propose real actions for more inclusive artistic creation. Its conclusions will be gathered in a document with practical guidelines, to be shared publicly and made available to professionals in the field.
Travel, accommodation (breakfast included) and lunches will be fully covered by the project.
Selection of participants
The applications can be submitted via the website https://weallneedtheatre.eu/ until 06 June 2025.
The jury, composed by one element of each partner of the project (Teatro São Luiz, FEDAPAS, ATER Fondazione, PLAVO Theatre, THEAMA – Inclusive Theatre, Sommerblut Kulturfestival) and the curator Marco Paiva, will select the 30 participants until 20 June 2025. They will take into consideration the motivation letter to take part of this workshop, along with previous work experience in Theatre, Inclusion and Accessibility. The jury will aim to create a diverse group considering parity and a balanced number of Artists from the different eligible countries (European Union, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine and Turkey).
Everyone who applies will receive an answer until the end of June.
