Here’s what it’s all about

On May 24, Cologne-Mülheim will be the setting for Mad Pride Cologne—a colorful, loud, and powerful demonstration for the rights, visibility, and social inclusion of people with mental health experiences and disabilities. From Wiener Platz to the Schauspiel Köln, we’ll march together through the streets, accompanied by speeches that highlight solidarity, inclusion, and the diverse realities of life in a wide variety of communities.

Why you should come

New year, new location: To mark our anniversary weekend at the Schauspiel Köln’s Depot in Cologne-Mülheim, the MAD PRIDE march will take place in Mülheim for the first time. Accompanied by the Kwaggawerk art orchestra and the Mama Afrika percussion group, we’ll march along Mülheimer Freiheit, down Keupstraße, and all the way to Schauspiel Köln, covering a barrier-free route of 1.6 kilometers. For those who can’t make the journey on foot, we’ll have rickshaws available.

Afterward, the festivities continue on an open-air stage in front of the theater with a diverse program as part of BIG BÄÄM. You can look forward to speeches, including one by Raúl Krauthausen, as well as music by Tobias Leifeld and ELENN, the ESG Choir Cologne, and VAVUNETTHA.

May 3 – Activism Day

Together with artist Amie Savage, MAD PRIDE kicks off this year on May 3: In a workshop, participants will create posters and banners to be used on May 24. Mouth painter Amie Savage will help participants artistically express their demands, stories, and goals. The workshop will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Great Forum of the Alte Feuerwache.
