This is a “practice unfolding” and thus a preview of the performance, offering a glimpse into the first phase of the work’s creative development process prior to its premiere.
What it’s about
In a world that denies space and a voice to many bodies, movement becomes a political act. Willie Stark’s work is a physical exploration of resistance against silence. In an era marked by inequality and climate anxiety, the piece poses the urgent question: How do we respond as a community when systems no longer protect us? Drawing parallels between historical struggles and the present, dance becomes a mirror of the enduring necessity of solidarity.
Why You Must Come In
Bodies in motion demand to be present. Choreography translates the relationship between body and space into a language beyond words. In times of social change, this becomes a reminder that resistance does not take place only in the mind, but is deeply rooted in the flesh and in movement. The piece reveals the power of empathy and radical care as tools against oppression.
Willie Stark stages dance as an act of remembrance and as a warning: those who move are harder to silence. “Le monde nous regarde” is an intense experience about the physical assertion of one’s own existence.
“LE MONDE NOUS REGARDE” is a co-production by Willie Stark and FWT: Cologne in collaboration with the Orangerie Theater and the Sommerblut Cultural Festival. As part of Reframing Dance – Mittelzentrum Tanz & Performance Köln, a collaboration between the Orangerie Theater and FWT: Cologne.
