Overhead Project, the host company of the CircusDanceFestival, reveals in “What Is Left” the beauty and brutality of everyday social fashion walks. The performers appear discreet and approachable, but at the same time their bodies are strategically staged in an uncanny way. Authentic presence and cool presentation modes stand distorted side by side. In the struggle for attention, a sweat-inducing mountain of bodies pushes inexorably upward into the height of the room.

Between catwalk, parade and passive voyeurism, five acrobats and dancers hold up a mirror to us with their radical presence.

The Overhead Project company won the Cologne Dance Prize in 2023 for this powerful piece. At the intersection of contemporary circus and dance, Overhead Project has been shaping Cologne's independent scene for over fifteen years and is the initiator and host of the Cologne CircusDanceFestival.

The CircusDanceFestival presents What Is Left by Overhead Project in cooperation with Sommerblut Kulturfestival and Schauspiel Köln.
